Founded by Wayne Berko in 2005, Uni-versalEXTRAS Ltd set out to become the first Extras Agency to provide a reliable nationwide service. After researching the market, Wayne realised that Feature Film and TV productions shooting in multiple locations across the UK would benefit from having one agency that they could rely on to deliver a consistent ‘look’. The company quickly established a reputation for reliability and professionalism, delivering where others would fail. Uni-versalEXTRAS is now the leading nationwide Casting Agency covering the whole of the UK and Ireland, with an impressive record as the sole Extras Agency for award-winning Feature Films and productions.
Mighty oaks from little acorns grow. Uni-versalEXTRAS’ first ever job was to supply German speakers for a National Geographic documentary about the Hindenburg Disaster called ‘Seconds from Disaster’… as they say, “the rest is history!”
After the first few productions it soon became apparent that the company needed to harness not only the looks of its Extras but also their skills. In 2007, Uni-versalEXTRAS opened its books to professional sectors such as the Emergency Services, Armed Forces and Glamour Industry to improve its service offering. With a growing reputation through Word of Mouth, the company soon had a unique database and was capable of supplying Extras and Supporting Artistes of all ages and backgrounds with diverse skills.
To be closer to its clients, Uni-versalEXTRAS relocated its head office to the prestigious Pinewood Film Studios in 2009. The company has continued to grow organically, employing new staff to meet the demands of the entertainment industry. Uni-versalEXTRAS is renowned amongst Casters and Assistant Directors for providing a personal and reliable nationwide service; a company that will always go that extra mile for its clients.
Since establishing Uni-versalEXTRAS in 2005, Wayne’s passion for delivering on casting no matter how hard the brief has helped the company go from strength to strength. With over 15 years' experience, he has managed the casting of Supporting Artists for many of the world’s biggest films and TV shows. His knowledge of the industry is unparalleled and is relied upon by clients looking for advice on castings, budgets and logistics.
