| HAVE YOU DONE ANY SIMILAR WORK IN THE PAST?
I have worked on several short films, Burke and Hare was my first feature film. WHAT WERE YOU EXPECTING WHEN YOU GOT THE PART IN Burke and Hare? I had no idea what to expect. Whatever I had to do, I was determined to perform to the best of my ability. WHAT PART DID YOU PLAY AND WHAT DID YOU HAVE TO DO? I played the “Boil Man” and I was being terrified by Burke and Hare as to the condition that I suffered from (boils), and being assured that this ‘magic elixir’ would cure everything from my boils to Haemorrhoids. I was then directed (personally) by the screen legend John Landis, as he filmed close-up reaction shots of my face as I was exhorted to buy this magical mixture. Later on I was in the forefront of a mob scene, brandishing a cudgel! ON THE SHOOT DAY AND HOW DID YOU FEEL? Shooting was a real eye-opener as to the scale of everything. Having studied for my MA in screenwriting at Screen Academy in ‘08, I was a bit like a kid in a candy store. Watching everything from Camerawork and Directing, to the almost regimental efficiency of all the film crew. WHO DID YOU MEET? I was separated from the rest of the extras at makeup and taken to Stirling Castle, where we were shooting. There I was taken to a large makeup trailer. WHAT WAS THE BEST PART OF JOB? It was all great, I was doing something that I’d always wanted to do (acting in a feature film), not only that, I was appearing with giants of the British screen, and the legendary John Landis was directing… bliss. ANY OTHER COMMENTS ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE? Every person on the actual shoot, was great. Friendly and always putting everyone at ease. An all round great experience, and one I hope to repeat, please…. If you would like to be an extra of the month please email the details of your experience to info@universalextras.co.uk |
