Award season is well and truly underway with last night marking the 94th Annual Academy Awards – and boy, was it a newsworthy one.
We certainly didn’t anticipate the night’s host, Chris Rock, coming to blows on stage with a very disgruntled Will Smith after making a joke about the actor’s wife, Jada – but let's not dwell on that. On to the more-important movie news!
We were delighted to see a generous helping of UVE-assisted productions not only making an appearance this year, but walking away with the much-deserved top prize for their contributions to cinema.
We congratulated Cruella’s Jenny Beavan for her sensational Costume Design; Beaven’s third Academy Award win [A Room with a View / Mad Max: Fury Road] and 11th nomination overall!
We were over the moon to see Belfast’s Kenneth Branagh finally stealing into first for Best Original Screenplay after eight previous nominations spanning a record seven categories over the last 30 years. Finally he leaves with a brand new, shiny Oscar for his mantel.
Last but not least, No Time to Die swept up Best Original Song for Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell's title track 'No Time To Die'.
